Summer Worship Services

Summer is also a great time for change, so we’re going to move from one Sunday morning worship service to TWO on June 28! Our summer services will be at: 8:15 am & 10:30 am

Summer is always a busy yet exciting time. It brings a change of pace and an opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine. Summer is also a busy time in the life of the church, as we change gears. The schedule for this summer is filled with family ministry events such as family camp, student camp, sports camp, VBS and a parenting seminar. It’s filled, as well, with outdoor outreach activities such as our upcoming Concert and BBQ in the Park and the Memorial Day Picnic that just took place. And then there are the summer mission trips that many of us will be serving on. It’s a busy time – and a great time!

God continues to use our church to reach a growing number of people. Assuming that He’ll continue to use us in this way, we’ve known that we’d need to move to two services by fall, because we’d be maxing out our sanctuary seating. We’re excited that God is using you and the rest of this VBC family to impact lives and that He’s growing His church through us. While it’s not critical that we move to two services in the summer, we’re going to take the plunge for at least three reasons.

    1. Outreach: You’ll likely be interacting with your neighbors more during the next three months than you do all the other nine months combined. Two services gives more flexibility when inviting neighbors and friends to church!

    2. Ability to focus: Sunday morning ministries are reduced for the summer, so we’ll be able to figure out how best to do two worship services without having to think about children’s ministries and Adult Bible Fellowships at the same time.

    3. Flexibility: Many enjoy having the option of an earlier service in the summer, if they’re planning to be outdoors later in the day – while others get out of the routine of being up early for school and appreciate the opportunity to sleep in a bit!

Will we get it right the first Sunday? It’s doubtful! But hopefully over the course of the summer we’ll work out a lot of the kinks and be ready to launch full speed into our full set of ministries in the fall.

What can you do to help? As we all learn together how best to do this, remember to be flexible, gracious, adaptable and understanding. Above all, please join us in prayer that this change will be effective, enabling us to bring even greater glory to God and to have increased impact in the world for His Kingdom. We also need people to step up to SERVE. We need additional people to help in the nursery and preschool ministry, and also to serve as greeters and ushers.
