The Gift of God

Passage: Ephesians 2:8-10

Detail:

1.  We are saved by grace (v. 2:8a).
     Types of graces:
       ●  There is common grace given to all
       ●  There is effectual grace that enables one to be saved.
       ●  There is the need to apply grace every day.

2.  We are saved through faith (v. 2:8b).
     What is faith?
       ●  Faith is connected to trust (Proverbs 3:5).
       ●  Faith is connected to our feelings (Matthew 13:44).
       ●  Faith is things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

3.  We are saved not by our good works (v. 2:9).
     What does good works do for the Christian?
       ●  Good works is the fruit of salvation (Psalm 1;
           Galatians 5:22-23).
       ●  Good works is the proof of salvation (Romans 8:14-17).
       ●  Good works is powerless to save (Titus 3:5-7).

4.  We are saved by God's work (v. 2:10).
     How is God's work described?
       ●  Personal conviction (John 16:8)
       ●  Personal gift (Romans 6:23)
       ●  Personal experience (John 3)
