Help! I Am in Anguish

Passage: 1 Kings 19:1-18

Preacher: Kevin O'Brien

Series:Help! God's Hope for the Hurting

Detail:

1.  Anguish is relentless.
       •  It sneaks up on us when we least expect it.
       •  It often scares us into scampering away.
       •  It saps our strength.
       •  It skews our perspective.
       •  It shrouds the truth.

2.  Anguish requires respite.
       •  Physically
            >  Sleep
            >  Food
            >  Recuperation
       •  Emotionally
            >  Time
            >  Sometimes space
            >  Connection with others
       •  Spiritually
            >  Recognizing God's care
            >  Crying out to God in prayer
            >  Listening for God's voice

3.  Anguish is redeemable.
       •  In our pain God can reveal Himself in surprising ways.
       •  In our pain God may reveal a part of His larger plan.
       •  In our pain God gives us a path forward.
       •  In our pain God provides the tools for us to minister to others.
