My Family in Uganda (Bekah Waweru)

Posted by Keith Duff on

Today, I (Bekah) met the kids that my family and I are sponsoring. The oldest of the three is Queen, who is 18. She is finishing high school, so I was able to go to the high school where she is staying. Her mother was there with her, so it was very nice to meet her.

Emmanuel, who is 14, is the middle child. He always made sure he knew where I was, and would ask where I was going every time I got in the van. It was very sad for me to say goodbye, because he and I were very good friends. Before I left, he told me his only pair of shoes broke! I had to make sure he got new shoes! After talking to Lisa O’Brien, she told me that she would get him some new shoes.

Mercy, the youngest, is 11. Even though I was only able to see her once, it was very hard for me to say goodbye. I was able to visit their home, and it was no bigger than a garage. The mother said that even though they didn’t have much, she was very thankful for the things they did have.
