My name is David Wood and I am married to my beautiful high school sweetheart, Emily. We have been blessed with three amazing children: Piper, Haddie, and Calvin. It is a joy to love them, watch them grow, and see their heart be drawn to the Lord. Emily currently serves our community as an 8th grade science teacher, and in a variety of capacities at Village.
As a child, I learned from the Bible that I was created to know and serve God. I learned that Jesus is God’s Son who took on flesh to save sinners like me. I realized I was a sinner in need of God's grace. My mother explained to me how I could place my faith in Jesus, and I prayed to confess my sin and to ask Him to save me. I have since known that I am saved by the blood of Jesus.
In high school, I began pursuing vocational ministry in a church context. I attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies in 2010. I have served in various capacities at our Sugar Grove and Indian Creek Campuses, but sensed the Lord’s leading to focus full-time at the Aurora Campus, and have been enjoying this beautiful family of believers ever since.
In 2021, I was affirmed as the Aurora Campus Teaching Pastor and I am enjoying the opportunity to serve the Lord, our growing multi-ethnic church, and our beloved Aurora community. I am so thankful for the chance to serve alongside our committed ministry leaders, servant-hearted volunteers, and caring shepherding team couples, all investing in God's Kingdom in and through our church. My hope for the Aurora Campus is that in each new season of life, we would each walk more closely with Jesus, our Good Shepherd, as we follow Him and mature as His disciples.
