I was raised by Catholic parents who took me to church every Sunday and had me attend religious education. As a high school freshman I choose to stop going to the Catholic Church with my parents because I could not understand why I needed to confess my sins to a priest. I knew in my heart that I was not sorry for some of the things I confessed to the priest, and I knew God knew it too. At age 19, I was told the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and truly repented of my sins.
My relationship with God has grown over the past 20+ years through personal Bible studies, prayer, and learning from godly pastors and Bible study leaders that have preached biblical truth. God has shown Himself faithful and loving throughout my journey with Him by helping me through varies trials, including the sudden death of my younger sister and a depression.
I went to Northern Illinois University in 1989 where I studied Child Development. I married my high school sweetheart, Scott Brown on May 19, 1990. God has truly blessed Scott and me over the past 22 years. We have a strong and happy marriage and three wonderful children. We started going to Village Bible Church Aurora campus in 1993. I have served at the church as a nursery worker, family events planner, Awana Sparks director, and children’s generation program. I am currently serving as the Aurora campus administrative assistant.
My prayer for Village Bible Church is that it will continue to be a church where people can come to hear Biblical truth being preached and taught to all ages. I pray that visitors will always feel welcome but challenged to obey God’s word. I hope that God’s love would be evident to our neighbors through the service and love each of our members have for one another and to our local community.
