Psalm 51 reminds us that:

1.  We have the capacity to sin greatly.

  • Our sin:
    • Causes us to do stupid things.
    • Can bring great suffering.
    • Results in great shame.

2.  There are consequences for sin.

  • Sin:
    • Separates us from God.
    • Soils the soul.
    • Saturates the mind.
    • Stains the conscience.
    • Secures our verdict.
    • Severs us from community.
    • Saddens the heart.
    • Sickens the body.
    • Shakes our spirit.
    • Shatters our confidence.
    • Sabotages our testimony.
    • Stops our praise.

3.   There is a way to come back after sinning.

  • Making a comeback involves:
    • Approaching God in a spirit of contrition.
    • Confessing your sins to God.
    • Allowing God to cleanse you.
    • Celebrating your restoration.
