We enter the danger zone when:

The Christian is distracted.  Staying focused involves knowing what to:

  • Address (vs. 8).  This involves:
    • Good doctrine.
    • Grateful duty.
  • Avoid (vs. 9).  This involves:
    • Foolish teaching.
    • Fruitless teaching.

The church is divided.

  • The root of division (vs. 10)
    • Sin
    • Selfishness
  • Our response to division (vs. 10-11).  This involves:
    • Watching out for division.
    • Warning them twice.
    • A withdrawal from fellowship.
    • Knowing why this is necessary.
