Today's episode in the early church seems confusing, but becomes clear when we understand...

1.  There are some who seem to be followers of Jesus.
       A.  They may have said they were believers.
       B.  They may have stepped into the waters of baptism.
       C.  But their hearts aren't really sincere.

2.  God shows those who are really His.
       A.  God confers His Spirit.
       B.  He connects them to His people.
       C.  He confirms them by His power.

3.  Some try to use God to gain status and power.
       A.  But we can't hustle God.
       B.  God wants our heart.
       C.  We must turn from our sin and honor God.
