We have a tendency to want to add to Jesus' work in our lives.  But what can we add?  And where does it lead?  We can see that. . .

1.  Jesus + anything = nothing.
     What if we add to Jesus the right. . .
       A.  Practices and procedures?
       B.  Precepts and preferences?
       C.  Pains and punishments?
       D.  Peripheral issues and past experiences?
       E.  Politics and patriotism?
     We would see that we are still in a spiritual. . .
       F.  Prison and have no power to stop sinning.

2.  Jesus + nothing = everything.
     Involves. . .
       A.  Faith in the finished work of Christ.
     And comes from God's unmerited. . .
       B.  Favor and His forgiving our sins.
     And is nourished in the. . .
       C.  Fellowship of the faithful.
     And gives us power to. . .
       D.  Fight the flesh.
