Keep Us From Temptation's Power | Part 3

1.  The Christian is to endure this present life (v. 12).

  • Keep looking toward eternity.
  • Keep believing God’s promises.

 

2.  The Christian is to heed the warning of sin’s power (vv. 13–16).

     Dealing with Temptation:

  • Know who are you.
  • Hunt the sin out.
  • Kill the sin at its source.

     Tools to fight sin:

  • Spot the primary sin (Jam. 1:14)
  • Investigate your heart (Eccl. 7:25; Lam. 3:40)
  • Pray the Scripture(s) (Ps. 139:23–24)
  • Know when you are most vulnerable (Gal. 6:1)
  • Study and learn from past mistakes (John 21:15–23)
  • Deal with the sin right away (Ps. 51)
  • Never imagine yourself beyond any sin (Matt. 26:35)

 

3.  The Christian is reassured of God’s grace in the gospel (vv. 17–18).

  • His grace eternally marked
