Alone

Passage: Psalms

Preacher: Jeremy Anderson

Series:Help! God's Hope for the Hurting

Detail:

Loneliness is growing more and more prevalent in our world today. There is a distinct difference between loneliness and isolation. Those who are most “connected” may find themselves feeling the most lonely, while those with the fewest connections can find themselves in great company. New studies have shown the effects loneliness can have on an individual’s life.

God’s design for humanity is to live in fellowship with one another and in fellowship with God. Scripture is clear that through Christ and the Church, God intends to combat loneliness.

1.  Loneliness is a complex struggle.
       •  You might feel lonely in your struggles.
       •  You might feel lonely in your sin.
       •  You might feel lonely in your social circles.

2.  Loneliness can cause various symptoms:
       •  Unhealthy life
       •  Unrealistic perspectives

3.  Loneliness can be combated using the right strategies.
       •  Be real: be honest with God and authentic with people.
       •  Be resolved: grounded in who God is.
       •  Seek relationships: quality over quantity.
