Desiring Righteousness and Despising Sin

Passage: 1 Peter 4:1-11

Preacher: Lewis Gaddis

Series:Special Message

Summary:

In this message, we're challenged to 'put on' the mindset of Christ, much like an Elvis impersonator dons the King's attire. The key scripture, 1 Peter 4:1-11, urges us to arm ourselves with Christ's way of thinking - desiring righteousness and despising sin. This spiritual armor prepares us for the battles we face against worldly temptations. Just as a child learns to fish through persistence and guidance, we too grow in our faith journey with God's help and the support of fellow believers. As we embrace God's will, we become distinguishable from the world, potentially facing criticism but ultimately finding true satisfaction in Christ.

Detail:

When we arm ourselves with the same way of thinking as Christ, three things begin to change in our lives:

1.  His will becomes more desirable.
2.  Our way becomes more distinguishable.
3.  Our walk becomes more definable.
