1.  God’s Gospel Work (past tense)
       •  We have been declared righteous (vv. 1, 9).
       •  We have peace with God (v. 1).
       •  We have obtained access to grace (v. 2).
       •  God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit
           (vv. 5, 8). 
       •  We have been reconciled to God (v. 10–11).

2.  Our Gospel Response (present tense)
       •  We boast in hope (v. 2).
       •  We boast in our sufferings (v. 3–4).
       •  We boast in God (v. 11).
