Our Great High Priest

Passage: Hebrews 5:1-10

Main point: Jesus is the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him (v. 9).

1.  To help us understand this, we have to understand the category
     of priesthood (vv. 1-4).
       •  High priests were appointed.
       •  High priests atoned for sin.
       •  High priests were from the order of Aaron.

2.  Jesus is our great High Priest, and while there are similarities,
     He is much different!
       •  Jesus was appointed as a Son.
       •  Jesus atoned for sin through His suffering.
       •  Jesus is from the order of Melchizedek.

3.  The question today is: have you obeyed Him?
