Overcoming Fear in Evangelism

Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:16-20

Who are we in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:16–20)?
1. At conversion we became a new creation (v. 17).
2. God has entrusted us with the message of reconciliation (v. 19).
3. We are ambassadors for Christ (v. 20).

How does Evangelism work (Luke 5:1-11)?
1. It’s the power of God that draws the fish to the boat!
2. When we are humble , that’s when we rely on Him and not on ourselves.

How do we overcome the fear of sharing our faith?
1.  To overcome the fear, we need to pray and trust the Lord for the results.
2.  Prayer—7 prayer themes by which we elicit Gods power in Evangelism
       • Prayer of confession—Repent regularly and quickly. (Humble yourself before God.)
       • Prayer for a broken heart—Lord, give me your heart for the lost. Break my heart for
          them.  
       • Prayer to be filled with the Holy Spirit—Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit. Please help me!
       • Prayers of intercession—God forgive them for they know not what they are doing.   
       • Prayer for an open door for the Gospel
       • Lord, draw fish to my boat. Please draw people to me that are ready and need to hear.
       • Lord, show me where You are working so I can join You.  Open my eyes.
3. Fear of evangelism reduces with practice.
