Faithful gospel ministry (and life!) is often heavy, but God’s sovereignty, the inevitability of division, and the call to sincerity steady us when discouragement presses in.

1. Paul experienced the strain of ministry (vv. 12–13).

2. But Paul remembered the sovereignty of God (v. 14).

3. Paul realized that separation is inevitable (vv. 15–16).

4. So Paul maintained sincerity before God (v. 17).
