I grew up in a Christian home where I was taught to love the Lord and His Word. I’m the fourth of seven kids, and I spent my first 18 years at the Aurora Campus. Even though I knew the truth from an early age, my faith didn’t really become my own until my 8th grade year.
One Wednesday night at youth group at the Sugar Grove Campus, I realized I was a sinner in need of a Savior. That night, I placed my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and it was there that I was later baptized.
Through middle school and high school, youth group was the highlight of my week. It’s where I felt most at home and where I really started to grow in my walk with Christ. I went on several mission trips and to many fall camps. After one mission trip, Pastor Mario asked if I had ever thought about preaching. Honestly, the thought terrified me, I had never wanted to be in front of people. But God had other plans. He began working in my heart, convicting me, and opening doors I couldn’t ignore.
Since graduating, I’ve had the privilege of learning from and being mentored by Pastor Mario and Pastor Jeremy. Now, as a pastoral resident, I get to serve in three areas: 1. I am part of the leadership team and the preaching team at the Naperville campus. 2. I serve as the middle-school ministry coordinator at the Sugar Grove campus. 3. I am the ministry coordinator for The Grove, which is a ministry to young adults at the Sugar Grove campus.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve and excited about how God is at work in me and through me. Village Bible Church has been such a blessing in my life, first in helping me grow in my faith, and now in giving me opportunities to help others do the same.
