Rest Assured

Passage: Hebrews 4:1-11

We can be assured of God's rest by...

1.  Connecting the dots between Old Testament Israel then and us             today.
     We see three connections:
       •  They were spared through the Passover; we are saved through             a Person!
       •  They passed through the wilderness; we are pilgrims in the                   world!
       •  Their journey was cut short because of their fear; our journey is
           made complete through faith!

2.  Categorizing the different rests in our passage.
     Our passage speaks of four different rests:
       •  Rest in Creation
       •  Rest in Canaan
       •  Rest in Calvary
       •  Rest in what is to come

3.  Considering the disqualifiers of this rest.
       •  Fear
       •  Faithlessness

4.  Committing daily to resting finally and fully in Christ alone.
     This rest has always been God's gift to His people to examine our
     work, embrace His grace, and enjoy His goodness.
