Identity Crisis: Biblically Navigating the Cultural Waters of Sexuality and Identity

For many, the rising cultural waters of Sexuality and Identity can feel overwhelming, as if we’re on an island and the surrounding tide continues to rise with no lifeboat and no rescue in sight. Whether through social media, school, the workplace, our neighborhood, family, or friend group, we’ve all been impacted in some way by this rising tide. And a host of questions come flooding into our mind: What does God have to say? Does He care? What is the role of the church? What are we to think…say…do? Or even, what’s the big deal?

In this class, we’ll explore the cultural waters of Sexuality and Identity through the lens of the “port of Scripture.” Through the wisdom of God’s Word, the research of scholar Nancy Pearcey, sound teaching, and engaging discussion, we’ll chart a course through some of the stronger currents of our culture, including self-image, transgenderism, and homosexuality. We’ll learn how the image of God and the theology of the body help us set our sails and stay the course, equipping us to provide hope and help to those drowning in the seas of our “current” cultural moment.
