1.  Today's major need is hearing from God's Word (Amos 8:11).

2.  The mission is to preach at all times (v. 1–2).
     Here at Village Bible Church...
       •  We are committed to biblical preaching...
       •  With an expository approach, which can be systematic or topical.
       •  Above all, we want to let ourselves be guided by the Holy Spirit.

3.  Ministering even during hard times (vv. 3–4)
     Remember what the message must accomplish.
       •  Does the message convict/confront your thinking?
       •  Does the message comfort you in your obedience?
       •  Does the message confirm the original intention of the author?

4.  Our call is to move forward in the Word (v. 5).
