The genealogy of Jesus reminds us of: 

1.  The requirements for a Savior. 
     Jesus is:

  •   Racially qualified
  •   Royally qualified

 2.  The reason for Christmas. 
     This is clearly seen in the lives:

  •   Tamar: We are all sinners
  •   Rahab: Sinners come to God by faith
  •   Ruth:  Salvation is for all peoples
  •   Bathsheba: Our salvation is firmly established  

3. Our responsibility  in light of Christmas.

  •   What is your spiritual lineage?
  •   Who is your Lord?
  •   How will you live your life?
