When the Fool Says There is No God (Part 10)

Passage: 2 Kings 1:1-18

Preacher: Tim Badal

Series:Elijah: A Man Like Us

Detail:

When fools say there is no God they:

   1.  Disregard the power and providence of God.

  • This disregard is seen in light of:
    • Ahaziah's affliction.
    • Elijah's intervention.
    • The soldiers' destruction.

   2.  Go down a painful path of unbelief.

  • Unbelief:
    • Can give a place to the enemy.
    • Leads us to pursue idolatry.
    • Keeps us from personal humility.

Reaching a modern day Ahaziah means we must be:

   3.  Devoted to playing our part.

  • Our part:
    • Begins with a calling.
    • Takes a great deal of courage.
    • Will usually involve confrontation.
    • Doesn't guarantee a change.
  • Our text also speaks to:
    • Parents.
    • Our perspectives.
    • Our priorities.
