To rise above our times of discouragement we must recognize:

1.  The misery that we can experience as Christians.

  • These experiences can cause us to:
    • Run away in fear.
    • Rationalize our feelings.
  • While these reactions seem natural we must:
    • Remember the flawed heroes in Scripture.
    • Be reminded of some common factors that cause depression.

2.  The medicine God gives to encourage us.

  • This encouragement involves some:
    • Care.
    • Compassion.
    • Clarification.

3.  The mission God calls discouraged Christians to engage in.

  • To fulfill our mission we must be:
    • Reminded of our calling.
    • Reconnected to other Christians.
    • Ready to coach others to take our place.
